"Yes, child?"

"Eh....I wasn't sure if
You'd still be talkin' to me."

"No, child.
I am here."

"Eh.....anyhow, I have to
read Matthew 7 for Wednesday."

[NOD.]

"I've read it BEFORE!
I just don't like all the RED."

"Yes. I know, child.
Read it."

"You know, Lord,
I've heard this saying all
my life, but I never knew
where it came from, or
what it meant."

[SILENCE.]

"I thought it was an
old wives tale - or,
maybe, a line from
Shakespeare: this part
about the pearls and the
swine."

"What does it mean, My precious?"

(squirm)
"Eh.........hm........
eh, I'm not sure, Lord."

"Tell Me, child."

"Eh...HEY! This isn't FAIR!
I never went to Christian SCHOOL!"

[SILENCE.]

"They never mentioned this
in Hebrew school....though,
how would I HAVE KNOWN, Lord?
I couldn't understand anything
they were saying, ANYHOW!"

[NOD.]

"Oh. You mean, You KNOW about my
unsavory Hebraic school past?"

[NOD.]

"OY."

"Go on, child.
Read."

"Eh, well.......can I say somethin',
here, Lord?"

"Yes, child."

"I don't like the way puppies and
little pigs, here, are given a
bad rap.
(silence)
What about Bassett Hounds,
and those cute, Potbelly pigs?"

"What about them, My precious."

"Hey, Lord? Eh, I guess
You know about why I haven't
written much, lately...huh?"

[NOD.]

"I wasn't sure."

"Be sure, My child."

"Yeah. Well, eh.....
So, lemme' get back to the
pearls and swine part."

"Good, child."

"Well, I guess it means
somethin' about not......eh,
I DON'NO, LORD!"

"Yes, you do."

"Hey, Lord?
Remember that little potbelly
pig I saw, one time, in PETSMART?
He was making snorty noises, and
wearing a little harness?
Whadn'he CUTE?"

"Yes, child."

"Remember that bassett hound
I took in, for a couple 'a days?
And, he'd go and stand in fron'a
the frigerator, and bark till' I
gave him a piece of bologna?"

"Yes, child."

"It turned out HE was a SHE -
and belonged to the kids
down the street."

[PATIENT NOD.]

"Her name was Tracy."

[PATIENT SMILE.]

"So, eh......about this part,
Lord, maybe I'll wait till
Bible study on Wednesday -
I mean...to talk about it.
I don't want to say the
wrong thing, and all."

"To Whom, child:
to Me?"

"Eh, well.........what's better,
Lord: to say the wrong thing
to You - or, not to say anything,
at all?"

"Tell Me, child."

"I guess it's better to just
say what comes from the heart -
and.........to not stop clinging?"

"To Whom, child?"

"To You?"

[NOD.]

Who is in heaven
give good things to those
who ask Him!
