Can You Hear His Whisper?

Will You Let ME Love You?

By Deborah Turley

Will you let me love you?

Chapter 1
Will you let me love you?
Have you ever sat and listened to the still small voice in your head as though it was a whisper in your ear from someone you could not see, feel, touch. That all of your normal perception of the flesh would know that it is not real and just something you were thinking. Some may even say that you are crazy if you were to take that chance to let them know the words you heard. And yet, there is something to this. Something that is telling you, it is not you. That you are hearing these words and they are not coming from your own mind because you know that you do not even consider thinking this way. Some say that this is just your conscience. Some say that it is “the devil” trying to persuade you into something that is not true. Some say that it is “GOD”. For consideration purposes, take a moment and think about it. Were the words you heard faint and hazy? Were they clear as day? Did it give you an option in your thought process to consider something different and you realized it would work? No matter at this point.

Take a moment and begin to listen closely. Is your mind racing so fast that you can not even take a moment to hear the words being spoken? Slow yourself down for a bit of time. Take note of what you are hearing. Get out a notebook and pen and watch the voices appear on paper. Once you do and go back and re-read them, you will find a different light than the moment in which it began.

I want to tell you of some of the experiences I have had. Not for my own benefit, but to give you another insight that some one really is whispering in your ear. Do you wonder who it is?
I have on many occasions and I do not always listen to the words that I hear. I do know that with many of my encounters with this voice I always find that when I don’t listen to the voice it affects me in some way or another. Sometimes bad, sometimes good. Yet there is an effect.

One day I heard the voice. The voice which I consider to be the voice of “GOD”. You know the one and only true God Almighty. The Father of us all. With Jesus Christ being his only begotten son and the Holy Spirit which was sent. His voice was softly spoken, with a tender and questioning tone. “Why won’t you let me Love you?” He asked me so gently. I recall my immediate response. “I’m afraid to, God.” I replied. “You know that I am not worthy of you or your love. You know that I don’t deserve you or anything that you give me. How can I let you love me? I will let you down. I don’t measure up to what you want.” I began to respond with excuse after excuse knowing deep down inside that I didn’t need to measure up to all that I thought I needed to be. Knowing that GOD will make up the difference of everything that I wasn’t into everything He was. I knew that it wasn’t what I was, yet what Jesus had done to bridge the gap so that I could go straight to the Father with my needs. “Why do you want me, GOD? I am nothing.” I asked him back. Quite humbled and awed that the Creator of the universe would even take time to talk with me. Then bible scripture after scripture began coming to my mind. All that I was taught and even things that I just knew in my heart began to well up inside of me. I could see his face smiling down on me as I heard him say, “I know all that you are and all that you are not. I know every part of you and every part that you are not. I have great plans for you my child and in my love will I grow you to the plan I have purposed in my heart for you. Will you let me Love you?” Tears began to stream down my face as I cried back to GOD with a positive “Yes, GOD, Yes.” I will do my best to let you love me.

You see, it was very difficult for me to let GOD the Father love me. For in my heart, GOD is a man and I have not been treated very well from men in my past, so the fear of letting another man be a part of my life was a risk. Or so I thought.
Growing up, my parents divorced when I was young and I had already been exposed to sexual molestation when I was around three to five years old. He was a friend of my grandmothers and I had gone to lay down with him to take a nap. Well, the nap was not a nap at all. I turned out to be a fondling session. I hated it, yet at that age, I did not understand, nor did I know what to do. My parents discovered this and were very disturbed. This was a time and age that things like this just weren’t revealed not talked about, yet brushed under the carpet.

There were several other occasions in which other male family members took advantage of me, yet once again I remembered how my parents reacted, so I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want them to get upset again. I began to believe the lie that for a man to love you; you must have some form of sex with him or he just wouldn’t love you. That sex, intercourse, fondling, and such were the only form of love out there. However, after many, many years of my life I came to the understanding that this just wasn’t true. The love that I was seeking would not be found in the arms or bed of another. The love of a person to another has nothing to do with true love. A total unconditional acceptance of one person to another. The true love of GOD and to receive His love was the ultimate love I had always been seeking. Knowing that no matter what I did, mind you there are always consequences for all that we do, that GOD still loves me.

Chapter 2

I had heard GOD’s voice many times before and sometimes I would take heed to his words and sometimes I wouldn’t. I am not quite sure as to why. I just know that I didn’t. I am told by many of my friends that I might want to listen to what GOD is telling me because he doesn’t speak to everyone. I always thought that he did. I always thought that everyone could hear his voice as plainly as I did. It was surprising to me to find this out. “Why do you talk to me, GOD?” in the soft voice as the tears steamed down my face with great humility. “There are so many other people that want to hear your voice.” He replied with such a tenderness, yet sadness as He spoke back to me. “I do talk to them my child. They just don’t listen. I can not speak to everyone the way that I speak to you. Each one of you are different, just as your own children are different and your interaction, correction and love with each one is different.” “I too must be different for each of my children. Most of them will not listen because they are in a state of rebellion and have their own agenda. I am not a part of their plans. Yes, they call on me when they are in trouble. However, in the everyday activities of life, I am at a distance because they will not let me in. I have called you for a special purpose and I know that you will listen. Yes, there are times when I am not part of your day, so I will take the time to get your attention.” GOD quietly answered me before I could even speak my question. His voice so soft and gentle with a caring sense of concern that He wanted me to understand why I am hearing his voice.

I listened carefully to His words as He spoke to me. With a deep knowing and understanding that GOD really does love me. I sat for a time just conversing back and forth with him asking question after question. Each question receiving a reply before I could verbalize it. Like a child I talked with my Daddy. Asking question after question. Just like I did with my own father at times. “Why this, why that?” I would ask my natural father. I recall one moment when he and I were riding down that road in his truck and I continuously ask him “Why” questions. I can still hear his voice saying, “If you ask me why again…..” then “You are not an owl, do your feet fit a limb.” So instead I asked him “How come?” He laughed.
