Exodus 20:12
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

This commandment doesn't just apply to young children. As our parents age, they need their children to honor and love them. They may require help in later years as they grow older. We are to honor our parents all of our lives. To give them the respect that they deserve. We should value our parents, and care for them. Listen to what they have to say, give them love and affection just like they have us all our life. Never put them on the back burner, never take for granted that they will be there tomorrow. Take it from someone who has lost their parents, tomorrow may be too late. God may call them home and then you wish you had made more time for them. I got to spend time with my mom, but I sure do miss her so very much. Tomorrow may never come, honor your parents now. Call them and see how they are, go for that visit you promised them weeks ago. Don't let precious moments slip away. Tell them today how much they mean to you, and how much that you love them. Thank them for working so hard to raise you. Tell them what a wonderful job that they have done all these years.

Honor Your Parents

We are to honor our mothers and fathers everyday
Tell them we love them all along life's way

If they need our help, lend a helping hand
When they need to talk, listen and tell them we understand

When they need a shoulder to lean on
Let them know they are not alone

Always be there in their time of need
Be there to care for them, be there always indeed

Always honor and respect our parents, for they are wise
Give them honor, love, and respect and see the love in their eyes

Oh, what a wonderful article, and so true, so true. No parent is perfect, but they are the ones God gave us, and are to be treasured. Amen.
