Now when Job's three friends
heard of all this .......
Eliphaz.....Bildad......and Zophar.......
they made an appointment together
to come to condole with him
and comfort him.
[Job 2:11]
****************************
"Hey, Lord? What are You gonna'
do about my FRIEND? HUH?"

"Are you praying, My child?"

"I've already DONE that!
I'm PAST that!
Now, I'm disgusted!
You haven't done anything
to make'r feel better!
What are You doin' up
There, anyway?"

"Looking at you, My precious."

"Well, forget about it!
I'm really mad!"

[NOD.]
"Pray for your friend."

"But, You're not doing
anything, Lord!
YOU know what she needs!
What'r 'Ya waitin' for:
the snow to fly here,
in San Antonio?"

"Perhaps, My child."

"Yeah, right!
What was it.......90 degrees here, today?"

"Was it, child?"

"Who cares?
The point is......."

"Pray for her, child."

"Why? What FOR?"

"And, I will listen."

"I don't want You to
LISTEN, Lord!
I want You to DO
something! DARN!"

"Are you praying now,
My child?"

"But......I don't understand You,
Lord! Why don't You just........?"

"Who AM I, child?"

(silence)
(arms folded)
(more silence)
"I dunno'."

[SMILE]
"Tell Me, little one."

"Well, eh..........
You were the One Who
gave us root beer?"

[LAUGH]

"Yeah, that's right, Lord.
Somebody tol' me root beer
comes from a'root in the
ground. So, I guess
YOU made it."

[NOD.]
"And, what does that
tell you, child?"

"Eh............You wan'
us ta' have more
ice cream floats?"

[LAUGH.]

"Hey, Lord?
Are You gonna'
help my friend,
or WHAT?
Come ON!
I'm SERIOUS, here!"

"Pray to Me, child."

"But......!"

"And, I will listen."
*******************************
And when they saw him from afar,
they did not recognize him;
and they raised their voices
and wept;
and they rent their robes
and sprinkled dust upon their heads
toward Heaven.
And they sat with him
on the ground seven days
and seven nights, and
no one spoke a word to him,
for they saw that his
suffering was very great.
[Job 2:12-13]

I REALLY like the way you ended this with "I will listen." So often we want to hear Him say, "I will do what you wish," but that is not the deal, is it? If these are the thoughts inside your head, then I truly admire your friend relationship with your Best Friend and Saviour.

Good read! Yes, we so often just want God to do something! Yet He is not a puppet, moving to our every whim. Thanks for sharing.
