Though the gold frame is badly damaged and the thinly sliced pearl is cracked, there is still a beauty I cannot explain.

Picking it up off the sidewalk, I run my thumb over it, clearing away mud and water.

Whats seems to have been part of a locket is now part of the trash. I wonder what beauty this item originally had, but I cannot imagine.

Walking away, I start to place it in my jacket pocket. Then I realize my keys may damage it more.

Placing it in my breast pocket, I realize that is exactly what God does when He finds us broken and unwanted.

The local playboy is loved by women but when he is down and out, no one wants him.

The women that has too much to drink and takes home anyone has love and acceptance for that evening but when she just wants to talk, no man wants her company.

When society throws out the undesirables, that's when God intervenes. Sometimes He reaches out His hand to help. Sometimes He has to literally pick them up out of the gutter.

Broken, battered and unwanted, God can use these individuals for His Glory and Kingdom.

Much like that broken piece of locket society views as trash, God used it so I can realize that no one is beyond His help and there is beauty in all.
