Seeing the crowds,
He went up on the mountain,
and when He sat down His disciples
came to Him. And He opened
His mouth and taught them saying:

Blessed are the poor
in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom
of heaven.

"I don't really get this,
Lord."

[SILENCE.]

"Shouldn't this read,
'Blessed are the RICH
in spirit'?
This doesn't make
any sense."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"What is this: a typo?"

"No."

"Are You SURE?
It would really read
better, my way."

"Read It again, child."

(silence)
"I DID, Lord!
And, what about
this part:

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit
the earth.
[Matthew 5:5]

This isn't true at all;
where did this come from."

"ME."

"Were You talking about
THIS earth, Lord?
Maybe, this is about
another planet."

"No, My delightful student."

"Yeah, Lord......but,
MEEK? HERE?
Not from what I've seen, Lord.
'Remember Star Trek:
not TNG, but the
original one?"

"Yes, My precious.
Go on."

"Well, on Mr. Spock's
planet, everybody was
peaceful, and logical.
On Planet Vulcan,
the meek WOULD have
inherited it all.
(thoughtful silence)
Do 'Ya see where
I'm comin' from, Lord?"

[SOLEMN NOD.]

"Now, on this planet,
beautiful, and
tumultuous Earth,
the folks who get
ahead are very aggressive,
and, eh........
You know -
very aggressive."

[NOD.]

"Sort of like the
planet Klingon, but
I think the Klingons
were a lot more
philosophical
about it."

"Yes, My beloved."

"I'm sorry, Lord.
I'm just trying to
relate this to what
I know, which is
basically '60's
TV."

[NOD.]

"I've been on earth,
for over a half a
century, Lord;
'meek' and 'inherit'
aren't ususally in
the same book."

"No, child.
(SILENCE)
But, they are
in Mine."
