God is Love


If I seek to put the smile on faces
If I seek their loneliness to erase
With kind words of the love of God.
If I seek the light of God to display
On gloomy faces to be uplifted.
If I seek the burden to share of others
To bear, that courage and faith be renewed.
If I seek the tears to erase with my tears
That comfort and warmth be felt
And the hollow cold away is chased.
If I seek the laughter of others to share
That joy may wax strong as the brightness of the noonday.
Then the heart of God is in me.

Blood makes dispensable unions
But love makes indispensable bonds
The breath of God is the source of life
But the love of God confirms we are His
If God is love
Then love is God
And love makes us Gods on earth

Love conquers all negative emotions
That seek to rule over us
That seek to dominate us
That seek to dictate to us
To bring us into submission,
Under the desires of the flesh
With its strange children:
Greed, hate, racism, rapacity, selfishness, lust…
Love liberates the heart and spirit
Love takes the man to Godly heights
To the hill of glory eternal
And crowns with the purity of righteousness.

Lord teach us today the eternal path,
The wisdom that made the earth,
The understanding that has kept all existing,
The strength that can never be broken
The power that brings all into subjection,
The beauty of divinity
The foundation and source of the Blood
Teach us Oh Lord, the path of life
That we might reign in Your destined glory
Open our hearts to understanding
Open our spirits to hidden wisdom;
The source of power hidden in love
The raw tenderness of the broken heart
That seeks the good of all with a dead self.
