Are you a person who genuinely cares for others? Do you step up and do pleasing things, good things for people who are troubled, struggling or hurting? Christian that is one the primary ways we can demonstrate the love of Christ to others; by caring about one another.

I was sitting under my carport this morning watching about thirty hummingbirds working as they sought nutrition from one of the feeders. We have had a rough summer and are in drought conditions here in Kentucky. Many of the flowers have died and things are bad. I think the hummingbirds have lost their major food source and for a little over two weeks they have been emptying my feeders 2-3 times a day. While I was sitting there a name “Jack Bay” popped into my head.

More than likely none of you know Jack Bay or his wife but they were people who were very kind-hearted and helpful to us when our daughter was an infant. He was a druggist, and as children do, our first baby had her share of illnesses and we needed medicines. Mr. Bay and his wife were cordial and compassionate enough that they extended credit so that we could afford the medicines we required to care for everything from colic to ear infections and beyond. For over two years. That surely helped a young couple who needed a little help during some difficult times.

Had it not been for the Bay's I don't know where or how we could have afforded those medications. In addition to the motherly insights and advice Mrs. Bay offered to a new mother they demonstrated a caring attitude when we needed it. Caring, reaching out, being a little involved to a inexperienced couple with no family around who needed words and deeds of kindness. Reaching out beyond the counter, and doing more than a job these nice people gave us an example to follow. Be kind and considerate to all for you never know what a impression you will make on other people.

May our Lord amply bless those who go beyond themselves to lend a hand to others. Remember, not all needs are colossus, sometimes it only takes a word of encouragement or sending a card, or making a call can make a difference in a hurting person's life. Be that caring person and reach out today.
