Encouragement
Jealous of joy that makes a soul leap
Sufferings are busy, they seldom sleep
Like a flight of bullets they come
To suppress souls, active pills they become
A certain boy had siblings who were jealous
But he delighted in His Creator being zealous
God made him over His people king
And His praises always he did sing
Once this mighty king was chased
He dwelt in hideouts wherever he raced
Untold misery by enemies he faced
Yet always took refuge in God whom he praised
One can understand his frame of mind
And in various situations also find
In psalm his comparison to three fowls
Namely pelican, sparrow and owl
Apply to all, who in life do moan
Expecting help for each groan
Mortal life continues waging wars
Between flesh and spirit age is no bar
Would anyone see in a wilderness,
A pelican standing with happiness?
There is no drinking water in my can
Says this abnormal imagery of a pelican
Normally found in marshy places
Satisfaction swells on pelicans’ faces
Only if fish is found abundantly
As a family they flock the bog in plenty
This pelican sounds so strange
Worried over what it should engage
Stands hapless without any direction
The deserts echoes its “rejection”
Perhaps, it became wayward
Left by others on their way homeward
Could be that it wants to go back
Unfortunately has forgotten the track
Or else had it faced some danger
Turned to keep away from a ranger
To us, whatever be the reasons blind
Yet tormented was the pelican’s mind
Loneliness frightens anyone dear
Whether they are far or near
You desire not such a state
As this pelican is, in my estimate
Secondly, the king calls himself an owl
In deserts and isolated places it does howl
Although it’s a common feat
None desires to view an owl on beat
It feeds greedily on carcasses
That at night his eyes trespasses
Nay! Symbolize not this horrible fowl
If one does, such a soul emits odor that’s foul
Finally his soul he calls
A lonely sparrow on watchtower walls
For these lovely little creatures
Moving in groups is their main feature.
Once again a horrible sight
Portrays the condition of a soul’s plight
Perhaps it has lost members of it’s family
Through some natural calamity
Watchtower is a place so beautiful
To a watchman sure it’s wonderful
But what has it got to do with a sparrow
That’s never anxious about tomorrow
Be it a cry, howl or twitter
God understands you much better
From heaven He views the earth
Desires that all souls be filled with mirth
Groaning of prisoners He hears
Releases death captives and their fears
They will declare the name of the Lord
Thinking of His deeds in every word.
Likewise such symbolic souls do turn
To God, receive His help and burn
Ever to proclaim His fame and name
Of the One who knows your frame.
