I loved you, my child...

Long years before you began...
As I dreamed of you
In the quiet of my thoughts.


I loved you when hope turned to despair...

In the midst of loss
And in the long hours of waiting.
My love for you
Made brighter the light of my dreams.


I loved you, my child...

As I heard your heartbeat
And saw proof of your life.

I will love you...

Through the long hours...
As I wait to hold you close
And count your tiny fingers.


As I arrange stuffed animals
And fold soft blankets and tiny clothes...
Placing them with care in a room just for you.

I will cherish you, my child...

As I worry and wonder over you...
As I put away your toys at the end of the day,
And as I bandage a scraped knee.

Tiring days and all the years ahead
Will be a blessing to me,
For I will know what a gift you are...

And always...
I will love you.
