You shall flee
when none pursues you
[Leviticus 26:17]
****************************
"That's it, Lord."

"What, child."

"That's what it feels like
when you're having a panic attack."

[NOD.]

"It's pretty awful;
you feel like you're going
to die, but you don't."

[SILENCE.]

"What am I supposed to
do with it, Lord?"

"Seek Me."

"But, Lord,
it just seems fruitless!"

"Seeking Me?"

"Well, I guess not.
But, You haven't
stopped them."

"No."

"How come?
You're MEAN."

"Who Am I, child?"

"Uh, the One Who
invented the expression,
'read the handwriting
on the wall'? Isn't
that somewhere in
the Book of Daniel?
I can't find it, Lord."

"Look."

"Hey! I found it:

Immediately the fingers of a
man's hand appeared
and wrote on the plaster
of the wall
of the king's palace...
and the king saw
the hand as it wrote..."
[Daniel 5:5]

[NOD.]

"I always thought
somebody on television
invented that
saying, Lord;
or, like, Shakespeare."

"Yes, I know."

" So, what should I do
when I have these
panic attacks, Lord?"

"What have you
been doing, child?"

(silence)
"Eh, uh.... eating pineapple
flavored sherbet?"

"And."

"Uh, talking to You?"

"AND."

"Sipping on Walmart rootbeer?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Oh, You mean looking
up stuff at the back
of Your Book, Lord?
Yeah, that helped too.
Although, I had a lot
of trouble finding that
part about the hand thing.
Did that king really
die, that night? That's
pretty weird."

[MORE PATIENT SILENCE.]

"WHAT?
What's a'matter, Lord?
Hey! Guess what?"

"What, child."

"I feel better!"

[NOD.]
**************************
Immediately the fingers of a
man's hand appeared
and wrote on the plaster....
and the king saw the hand
as it wrote.
Then the king's color changed,
and his thoughts alarmed him;
his limbs gave way,
and his knees knocked together.
[Daniel 5:5-6]
