His Face

When the boat pulled up to the shore,
You could see it in his face;
To fish all night and catch no fish
Brought to him great disgrace.
So Jesus said, “Let’s try again!
Don’t be afraid, just try once more.”
The fisherman climbed back into his boat
And pushed away from the shore.
He cast the nets into the sea;
His mind was filled with doubt.
Just then Andrew at the helm
Gave a mighty shout.
“I see them, Peter, there they are,
And they’re headed for our net.
Get ready now to draw them in
And many fish we’ll get.”
Once again he looked on his face
As the boat drew up to shore,
But the troubled frown he had seen
Was on his face no more.
When people look on your face,
My friend, what do they see?
A face that says, “I’m empty.”
Or, “I’m as full as I can be!”
