Into Your Arms

I find myself again
Here in this lonely place
The place that seems far from
Your mercy and Your grace.

My heart seems to have hardened
It seems so barren and so dry;
A tear won’t even fall
From my arid empty sky.

Not even wanting to imagine
You are sitting right here
Because then You’ll see
My flaws and my fear.

You’ll see my empty heart
And how far I have strayed
You'll  know when last I
Sought You and faithfully prayed.

You do know the distance
You feel it within Your heart
My life You know it all
You know every single part.

I imagine falling from the heavens
The raining down of tears
I imagine all of the sadness
You have felt over all the years.

So many times I have turned away;
I imagine Your arms open wide
Waiting for me to return
To the place by Your side.

I’ve again lost my temper
I’ve again only thought of me,
I didn’t even consider others
Their feelings; I failed to see.

I imagine reaching for Your arms
The arms that are always there
Waiting to hand out the mercy
I ask for again and again in prayer.
