Golden sunlight dripping from tips of prairie’s wheat

The smell of summer basking on the edges of the ocean’s lapping waves

The moonlight caressing an autumn tree surrendered of its leaves

And oh to run in fields of flowers once again

Childhood dreams of fairytales and treasured deserted islands

The first- time awe of rushing waterfalls cascading over smoothed rocks

The smell of autumn leaves raked into piles of cushioned fun

And oh to run in fields of flowers once again

Hearing words of adoration spoken from a loved one’s lips

The reassuring smile of a friend in desperate times

The small grasp of a tiny hand clinging to a finger

And oh to run in fields of flowers once again

Soft, velvet snowflakes falling on an expectant tongue

The warmth of a kindling fire on frosty days and bitter cold nights

The twinkle in a child’s eyes of Christmas wonders

And oh to run in fields of flowers once again

Oh to run in fields of flowers again like a child with great abandonment and courage.

A life surrendered to God with trust of a

gracious Savior is like running in fields of

flowers. The joy we first remember as children

we did not first add up the disappointments or

the possibilities of failure before running in

fields of flowers. Do you remember the wind in

your face as you ran and the smell of violets or

dandelions as you breathed in the fresh summer

air? Life was simple then and the cares of the

world did note burden you low giving way to

doubt and stress. In glimpses we see the Lord

beckoning us to run wild and free in fields of

flowers with only His yoke placed upon our

shoulders. I can see Him now in the middle of

the field, like a great Shepherd, watching his

sheep grazing in green pastures and encouraging

us. “Children – dear children – Run!”
