"You are my son, today I have become your Father."
Acts 13:32

I would like to share an exerpt from abook I have read called "Who's Your Daddy Now?" Written by Doug Stringer. This is a true story about a boy who recently lost his brother, who was 10 years old.

"Knowing Josh had suffered a loss no 12 year old can easily endure, I walked up behind him and put my hand on his shoulder. He was slouched in his seat, and his face was covered so no one would see him crying. I leaned over to gently speak in his ear and asked "Whats wrong?"
"I don't know."

I knew that meant I should ask again.

"Whats the matter?"

He told me he felt scared, like God was far away from him.

The Holy Spirit quickened me to ask him: "Do you know how close God is?"

"No."

I quickly replied by saying "He is this close."

I then scooped down and gripped him, putting my arms around him and hugging him as long and as hard as I could.

Josh didn't need my theology or thoughts at that point. He needed a tangible understanding of how much God loves him and how close He really is.

Later that evening, he thanked me and asked "What do kids do when the feel far from God and don't have a dad to hold them?"

"Today I have become your Father...."

God is our Father. When we feel alone, confused, frightened or hurt, He comes unto us and hugs and holds us, just like this man did with his son. I'm not saying this because of my own personal theology, or from some sermon I've heard, or some book I read, I'm not even saying it because I read it in the bible, though thats the book of Truth. I am able to say this because God, my father has been there for me to hold and hug me, when I was afraid, alone, confused or hurting. The God of the universe adopted us as His children through the blood of His son Jesus Christ. He loved us enough to spare not His own son to bring us into His Kingodm, so we may be called sons and daughters. We are children of the most High King! We belong to someone, not just someone, but God. He longs to love and hug and care for us. He longs to talk and laugh and be near us. He wants to know our hopes, dreams, thoughts, complaints, concerns, and our heart. He wants to take our life and make it His, so He can take care of us, and prepare us for His Holy purpose. He is gentle and kind, and He has a Fathers heart.
If anyone reading this today feels lost and without a father, call unto your Heavenly Father, He wants to be there for you. One morning, I woke up, and heard these words in my heart(and not being a morning person, I knew they were not just my own words or thoughts). The Lord spoke to me and said "I love being a daddy." Actually he said "I looooooovvvvveeeeeee being a Daddy" LOL. Our God is enthusiastic about us! His precious creation. Today, tonight, whenever you would like, lean close to your father in Heaven. Tell Him everything. Abide in Him. He longs to be near you. He loves you.
