I see Jesus.

It’s been a long exhausting day and I didn’t think I would ever get through it. Today was the day that the kids and I spent with their Grandmother; my estranged Husband’s mom. I spent a week trying to convince Grandma Carol why I should simply drop the children off as I did not want to run the risk of running into my estranged husband, his girlfriend and their son. But Grandma Carol would not take no for an answer. She had planned this extravagant luncheon for her entire family, “and that includes you” she stated.

So there we were, the children and I seated next to Grandma Carol and others enjoying our Wardorff salad and in walks Monte and His new family. I so expected my breath to catch in my chest, my eyes to water, and my heart to beat at an uncontrollable pace, as this was my normal reaction to seeing him. However to my delight and surprise, I immediately greeted them in love and charged the children to do the same; and it was genuine.

I spoke nothing but kind words to them all day which was a first for me. An hour or so into the luncheon, I excused myself and scurried to the ladies room. I immediately began to thank God for this change of heart that He had given me and I asked Him, “What happened?” The Holy Spirit took me back to the point of greeting but as Monte and His family walked into the room; all I saw this time was Jesus. He was standing in the threshold with His arms open wide. I began to praise the Lord all the more as I realized that He had replaced all of my hurt, bitterness, and pain with His divine love, causing me only to see Jesus Christ in Monte’s new family…in My new family.
