Have you ever really thought about the love of God? Paul says in Romans 8:38-39; (KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This love is so massive, mere words will never be able to describe it fully. Hearts must simply experience this love - but I believe it is still impossible for us to fully experience all of His love until we meet Him face to face.

One of my favorite old songs, simply called “The Love of God” says it just about as well as anything I have ever heard. Read and meditate on these words for a moment.

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Refrain

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the oceans dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

Refrain

Wow…..These beautiful words were written by Frederick Martin Lehman (1868-1953).

We can’t even begin to understand what the Father must have felt as He had to turn His back on His only begotten Son….all for us. And, we will never understand what Jesus had to endure to take the sins of the world upon Himself. What pure horror He must have gone through. But I think God the Father must have been equally tortured that His beloved Son was in such horrific agony for a time. So much so, that He being Holy God, COULD NOT look upon Jesus.

He did it all for us, folks. One verse in the second stanza of this song really struck me as I read it;

“When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call.”

Think about that for a moment. Revelation 6:15-17 says; And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

God IS love but God is also a jealous God. Make no mistake, He will avenge those who refuse Him. It makes my heart ache to know so many have never and will never experience this great love but will be damned to an eternity separated from the love of God. I cannot imagine the horror of eternal separation from God. Why are men so proud and stubborn to refuse to submit to their Creator? They miss out on so much, so many blessings, peace and so much love. All it takes is repentance and belief on our part. Why is that so difficult for some? I know....I know....because men love darkness rather than light. But the Light is so beautiful! And His commandments are not grievous.

We, as Christians need to be more vigilant and bold in our testimony and in prayer - perhaps we may save just one more and keep him from eternity in hell. Please join me everyday in prayer for the lost. I believe God answers prayer and it is up to us to plead for eyes to be opened, for hearts for receive Jesus‘ awesome love and forgiveness. Please make a special time each day to get on your knees and go before the Father in petition for the lost souls of your family and friends and for those all across the world. We can make a difference! God will richly bless you for your obedience when you do.

Yes, our prayers certainly can make a difference. I was thinking about just this one day... about how people can want to stay in the darkness. But it dawned on me that I didn't even know that I was IN the dark myself when I was in it, so how should anyone else. God alone caused those scales to fall away from my eyes so that I could see the light. The real shame is in that some HAVE seen the Light and still prefer darkness. God's arm isn't too short to save even those, however. Yes indeed, let us pray! Thank you so much for sharing the omnipresent, massive love of God and that very anointed song with us.
