Marriage

I sat last night in the heat at the game,
thunder muttering all around,
and wondered if we'd get to play,
before the sky opened and the rain came down.

First a drop silently splashed on my hand,
the inning was almost done,
then another and another hit here and there,
would the score say the rain had won?

But no, we played in the falling drops,
they were refreshing after all the heat,
and if, in the process, we got just a little wet,
it was better than facing certain defeat

The plays started coming as fast as the rain,
the thunder applauding each score,
and in the end, we had tied the game,
what an effort! Who could ask for more?

It reminded me so of the rain of our love,
it falls each day at it's time,
a refreshing reminder in the dusty events of the day,
that I am yours, and you are mine!

Sometimes a sprinkle, sometimes a torrent,
soaking in our hearts like dew,
and drenched in the wonder of it all over again,
all I can say is "I LOVE YOU!"
