Season’s Change

Christianity begins with a single step of faith that directs us to the joys of salvation in Christ Jesus. With a firm grip on the Master’s hand, we move from a step of faith to a walk of faith. We find along the way challenges, struggles, victories, and ministries that are always evolving into a new thing. As we emulate the ministry of Jesus Christ, we cannot overlook His boldness to go against the grain; encourage hearts to repentance; and build believers to growth. Change is a picture of newness, relaying the image of fresh inspiration. My prayer after I accepted Christ, was to never grow stagnant, I was determined that the same exuberance that marked my step of faith would lead me through my walk of faith. This was before my second child was born, my husband began Pastoring, and I began the journey of writing. For everything there is a season, and for believer’s it is imperative to understand that seasons do change. Our hope is to do more than withstand life’s season changes we want to blossom in them.

Embracing the uniqueness of the ministry that God had planned for my life was my beginning. “For I know the thoughts I think towards you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you a good future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).” With the promise of greatness in service to the Lord any person will find empowerment. The struggle came for me in the pressing. I had to learn to press through fatigue, frustration, uncertainty, lack of support, and impatience. To be steadfast like Noah; unwavering like Abraham, and faithful as Job are no easy feats. Hallelujah, there is joy in the pressing! Imagine if seasons didn’t change, creation would not survive. If summer did not yield to fall; and fall to winter; winter to spring; and finally spring yielding back to summer, growth would become stale and incomplete. Life would fall into the cycle of suffocation, rendering death. Becoming spiritually stagnant yields the same results- spiritual death. When we refuse to reach new challenges in Christ, we are dying.

The joy of salvation marks more than an acceptance of Christ’s love for us, it marks the beginning of a lifestyle of thanksgiving through service. It is vital to understand that bringing glory to God is essential. Where I did not see time to have a writing ministry, God showed me how to make room for it. No, it is not a conventional writing method but still Holy Spirit driven. Now I wake from restful sleep with words burning on my mind. I keep a tablet by my bed, in the car, and at work. Forfeiting lunch hours and break times at work to write. Ministry will grow you into a spirit of sacrifice and diligence. In the beginning thoughts of writing plagued me- now they consume me.

Season’s changing is God’s design plan. Just as the Master walked with the disciples through seasons of faith and ministry, He is walking with us as well. He has walked me through the newness of motherhood; the uncertainty of a new church home with my husband as pastor; and the greatest victory for me has been His words in the ministry of my writing. Imagine what joys I would have missed if I would have refused the call to change seasons. I bless God for the His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts. My pastor remarked often, if God allowed us a glimpse of what He was going to call us to we would take off running in the opposite direction! True blossoming can only occur to the extent that we yield to the process; there is no rushing a flower to bloom, neither can the believer over step the process of pruning. If we want to be efficient and complete for God’s kingdom matters we can not forgo our season’s changing.

Ironically it is when we feel we have failed that God smiles and says now you are ready to begin yielding. When Peter denied the Lord and went away grieved at his betrayal then the Lord elevated him and equipped him with a boldness that can only be God given. It is with God that newness, life, and growing are manifested. He is the creator and sustainer of all things and by His hand we are made, because of this truth I trust that just as He cares for the birds in the air so He cares for me. Winter is my least favorite season, and I would prefer spring all year, but the seasons must change.
