God wants us to win and He wants those around us to win. When our hope is oppressed, we can become hopeless. Without hope, we are unable to instill or foster hope in others.

Oppression means holding back others. It means holding back opportunities for growth of their worth, hindering their abilities, or withholding what is needed for their progress, deceiving their hope. Oppression is the attempt, by force or manipulation, to undermine our ability to reach our rightful place intended by God.

We are to be stewards of the hope of others. On judgment day we will not be asked to just give an account of how we administered our material wealth. Instead, we will be asked how we inspired, encouraged, and lifted up others. Instead, we will be asked did we care for the hopes of those near us or did we withhold what was necessary for God to promote them. Instead of how much money we donated or how many miracles we performed, the question will be did we love and promote those whom God gave us authority over or did we hinder their progress because of fear, jealousy, and selfish desires.

The questions will be about the deepest recesses of our hearts that we have kept hidden. If those around us are not increasing, learning and growing then we are doing something wrong.
