Do I love what I do,
Because I love You,
Or just this thing I love?
Do I write, trusting You’re right,
Or that I’d seem all white;
As if borne above?

If I abide in the One most kind,
I need not hide behind my lines,
Instead be simply me;
So if I’m me, I’m truly unbound,
Clinging to the King so crowned,
We enjoy this writing spree;

If You’re first in my heart,
I don’t have to play a part,
Things’ll be as they should;
The love for You in all I do
Will be shining through,
Writing as I only could.

So I see I am okay,
And with thanks, so I pray;
You’ve set me on the rock;
For the time that You decreed,
I’ll stay with You as my Need;
No need to use a lock.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body."--1 Cor. 11:27-29
