CHASING GOD

God, where are you? I long to see your face
I long to hear your words in my ear and feel your loving embrace
I long to sit upon your lap and share my intimate thoughts
I long to feel your healing touch upon the scars from where I’ve fought
But it seems that for every step forward you take ten steps back
I long to be so much closer to you tell me, is it something that I lack?
Is there something that I’ve done or is there something I can do?
It seems I’ve spent my strength at all these methods I’ve been through.

My child,

You can rest assured I know your heart and I know the longings you have there
Do not think I have forgotten you or think I do not care
For listen closely my dear child, for as you run this race
I’ll tell you a mystery not all will understand, I am a God who loves the chase
I long to be pursued and sought after and it may seem I’m always out of reach
But there is something I want to tell you, so dear child, let me teach
Sometimes it may seem that I am not there and those goosebump feelings go away
Sometimes it may seem the heavens are brass when you come to me and pray
But that doesn’t mean that I am not there, I’ll tell you what this means
That faith is being sure of what you hope for and the evidence of things not seen
You must have faith in knowing that I am there, despite how your flesh may feel
It’s knowing by my Holy Spirit that I am alive in you and real
So keep chasing me my child and take pleasure in knowing this
I’m a Father who loves you dear child and in the end – I’ll let you win!

*When I used to play “tag” with my earthly father when I was a child, it always amazed me how I could always catch my dad. Now, being an adult, it’s obvious to me that he let me win. He let me catch him, but you can rest assured, he loved the chase. He loved seeing my eyes light up and giggle when I saw him from afar. It melted his heart like butter to see me take delight in the chase
