In the half-light of a spring
sunrise (I CAN SEE YOU) bashing
away on the glass (AND I LOVE YOU)

In the other world each moment
slips past, seen but unsatisfied - perhaps
we are unaware we’re trapped
in vehicles of skin and steel (BUT THERE
ARE OPENINGS, OFFERINGS)

No mere religion will do for us, my friend,
but (LIBERTY IN THE SPIRIT) and
it is that Spirit that calls us now.

Maybe it’s in our nature to beat our wings
and bodies on the obstacles, but I think
we both know (WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD
TO A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH)

The same Loving Eye on the sparrow
is on you, brother bee, and me and we
don’t just want to get by, to end it all
with hope in plain sight.

Most mornings you’d escape my notice
but today (I’LL TAKE YOU IN MY HAND AND
GIVE YOU NEW LIFE)- so spread
your weary wings now and fly.

There is little you can do in return.
(ACCEPT MY GRACE) and in that gift to you
I’ll have hope and a new eye,
not my own, but the Eye of another
who sees through me and (I’LL LOOK
ON ALL THE WORLD IN LOVE)
