The Last Tear

I cried when I was born even though I was unaware
I cried when my parents didn’t buy me a piece of candy in that store over there

I cried in fear of the monster under my bed
I cried learning to ride my bike when I fell on my head

I cried at school when the kids called me things like fool
I cried after being beaten up in my first playground duel

I cried the day my dog died
I cried the day the sun made me fried

I cried the day I learned Santa was a lie
I cried the day I saw a friend get high

I cried when I was turned down by a girl
I cried on a roller coaster, yeah it made me hurl

I cried for people that I have lost
I cried for heroes that have paid the cost

I cried to my parents after crashing their car
I cried drunk in an alley outside of a bar

I cried from smoke off my first cigar
I even cried because I’ve laughed so hard

I cried when I got fired from my job
I cried when exhausted after a jog

I cried from a broken bone
I cried when I bought my first home

I’ve cried with many
I’ve cried because I didn’t have penny

I’ve cried over little things, like missing a comb
I’ve cried many times when feeling all alone

I cried when I found my wife
I cried even more after creating a life

Someone will cry when I am gone
Someone will cry for reasons that would make this more long

I cried yesterday and then I asked why
Because when the gates of Heaven close, the last tear will not be mine

It will be that of our Savior looking down from above
At those that we could have saved, now in eternity…away from His love
