When God is Far Away

Today I long for God’s tender touch
So ‘out of sorts’ I’m feeling
Like sorrow, though I know not why
But my heart, it needs His healing

When God seems to be so far away
Deep down, I know the fault is mine
I’ve not taken time to talk to Him
This branch has drifted from The Vine

Father, please forgive Your child, I pray
And don’t hide You face from me
Shower Your love down from heaven
Release me from this misery

Capture my heart with a hunger again
To seek You every hour, every day
Bless me Lord, and draw me nearer
I just can’t stand it…..when You are far away

When God seems so far away deep down I know the fault is mine...how true for me this statement is, this is a lovely poem, you filled my arms with a tender hug from our savior, thank you for allowing Him to work through you, this is truly beautiful, how gifted you are.

I think maybe you were eavesdropping on my prayers as well. Seems the Lord is stirring a deeper hunger in many people lately. I'm so glad.

I often feel that way, too, Julia. The other day I was talking with a friend who really felt that way. I pointed him to Lamentations 3. Jeremiah really thought that God had deserted him. But eventually he saw that "except for God's mercy we would all be consumed" and then he came to himself and cried out to God for help. God lifted him out of his pit of despair. It is a good chapter for us all to read when we think God has deserted us, or is far away.
