The glow of good memories obscures the darkness of the bad, so I more often visit the former. No bonus in recalling the latter; suffering through them once was enough. Better to neglect them and allow them to dim into oblivion as light overcomes darkness.

People, like memories, also present as mixtures of good and bad: all of us. Our loving and all-wise Father deals with this condition by choosing to emphasize the penchant for good. He sent His Son to give us a Way to embrace the good in us and to de-claw the evil. It's true here also that where the Light shines, the evil dims and moves toward disappearance. After all, darkness is just the absence of Light.
"For He is the Light; in Him is no darkness at all." As the old song says, "Oh, to be like Him!"

We, His children, are hopefully making a valiant effort to forget the sins of the past (for He remembers them no more) and walk in the Light as He is in the light until darkness dims and finally disappears into eternal Day.

As an afterthought, it occurs to me that young people don't generally realize that old folks could teach them a thing or two until it is way too late--and they are old themselves. I wish I had listened!
