For years, no sound in the world
Delighted my ears more than
Martina and other greats
Singing songs acappella
Till I heard a chorus sing
The compositions of Bach
First, they sang accapella

Although their voices blended
Like hot cocoa and whipped cream
Their sound was hollow lifeless,
So once was I before him
I sang my own notes always
Searching for the melody
The melody of living
Melody of being me
Even at its best, my song
Was in tune but flat, lacking
Still, my tune captivated me
As others sung with mere vocals
Instruments marred the pleasure
Of enjoying supreme talent
Supreme ear delicacies
Then I heard the chorus sing
Sing to Bach’s background music

Their voices still beautiful
Happily missing nothing
Gaining true vitality
Changing my musical taste buds
I recalled another time,
Not so many years ago,
When I developed a taste
For a new flavor of life,
The flavor of his music,
his music mixed with my voice

Singing his notes I had passion
Resonance, vibrancy, life
Life connected to myself
Connected to the person
The person who he created
To love Himself and others
I was singing and living
Not only rich melody.
But enriching harmony,
Harmony of ringing true
Ringing resounding true life,
True life always elusive,
Elusive when I sang my song,
My song myself my way
Sang my song acappella
