patience at work today....?"

"Why, My child?"

"Huh? Oh. Well, You know:
because....."

"Yes? Tell Me."

"Well, You know those
folks I have to deal with,
sometimes........ can make me
impatient, and stuff -
You know."


"For Whom are you working,
My child?"

"Who? Oh, uh, You know,
Lord Jesus: that place
I've been working at,
for awhile. It's down
I10 and....... I know it's
not that GREAT of a
job, but....."

"No, child. That's not
what I am asking you."

"Huh? Lord Jesus, I'm
sorry; but, sometimes
I don't understand
the things You say!
I still don't get
that story about the
guys and the talents; how
come that one guy got tossed
into the outer darkness?"

[GENTLE SMILE.]
"Child, listen to Me.
I asked you a question:
for Whom are you working?"

(Puzzled frown.)
"Well, I really can't say HERE,
Lord Jesus. But, You know the
name of the company - I think
we just got a new regional
manager; the other one got
transferred out of state,
and....."

[GENTLE VOICE.]
"Child, Who is your Master?"

(Silence.)
"OH! Uh, I guess,
YOU are. Is that
what You mean, Lord Jesus?"

[NOD.]

"Do You mean that.......
...when I'm at
work - at that place -
that..........
I'm really working
for YOU?"

"Yes."

"But, Lord Jesus!
Why do You want me
to work THERE?
Everybody tells me
it's not much,
and...........and, You
know, I'm not, like,
measuring up to
my potential,
and everything."

"What is of
most importance,
My child?"

(Silence.)
"That what I do
at work, is in YOUR Name?
But, HOW?"

"Explain it to Me, child."

"Well..... like, the way I
act, and what I say,
and the way I treat
people - that should
all be, like....
as a worker for YOU?"

"Yes, My daughter."

"Okay. Well,
That kind of gives me
a better perspective,
about work, Lord Jesus.
Eh, I know sometimes,
eh....I haven't
acted - well, I guess,
the way YOU would have
liked..."

[SILENCE.]

"Thank You, Lord.
I'll remember that.
Thank You.
Thank You."

[SMILE.]

"Lord, will You
explain to me, sometime,
about that talent story?
I really would like to
understand it, someday."

"Read My Word, precious child."

"But, Lord Jesus, I....."

"And, read It, again."

I went and hid your talent
in the ground........
His master answered him,
You wicked and slothful servant!
........For to every one who has
will more be given.....
and cast the worthless servant
into the outer darkness............
