"And God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19

Have you ever read a verse of Scripture over and over for many years, and then one day have a whole new understanding jump out at you? Perhaps the heart's door widens a little to let the light in? Well, that's what happened to me when I read the above Scripture for the umpteenth time. Wow! I am a child of the King! And He offers all the resources of His kingdom to his children because He loves them. It takes my breath away. And His riches include much more than material blessings: love, forgiveness, contentment, all needs met, joy unspeakable and a home in heaven when life is over.

On the other hnnd, material wealth can buy none of these things. It only buys distraction from man's sad estate, all temporary, earthly, bound to die. Can't help with real happiness, hope or comfort. No comparison really. A burden that, in fact, has to be surmounted in order to reach the true riches.

There is a story of an old-time gospel preacher who met a church member one sunshiny day in town. He said, "Bro. Dunn, you walk as if you owned the world." It is said that the old gentleman replied with a broad grin, "My Father does!" I know better now what that means. Praise God! I am a child of the King! There's a spring in my step too.
