LIKE A FLOOD
“When the enemy comes in LIKE A FLOOD, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (Isa. 59:19b).
Most modern bible scholars believe that in the above scripture, the comma would have been after ‘comes in’ to more accurately covey the meaning of the original Hebrew as there are really no commas in the punctuation of the Hebrew Language. So, for a better understanding, we may read it thus: “when the enemy comes in, LIKE A FLOOD the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him”. It is the Spirit of the Lord that lifts up a standard against the opposition of the enemy, like a flood. Praise God!
The enemy, Satan, is too small to stop you because God is bigger than him. That’s really an understatement, actually there is no basis for comparison. Satan is an ex-employee of heaven that got fired. He lost his place in heaven and has been eternally doomed to hell. That is why he is waging war against the crown of God’s creation, man. He thinks that, perhaps, he may be able to hurt God by hurting the man He made in His image. But we know that the devil is a loser. He is defeated. No one has been a failure and a loser longer than the devil. He failed to topple God’s government; he failed to stop Jesus’ redemptive work for man; he failed from stopping you to get born again… he will fail again in his current attack on your life and destiny.
Don’t be perturbed when the devil opposes you, he is simply frustrated. “The ammunition selected by your enemy against you is an indication of his fear of you” (Mike Murdock). He is afraid of what you are about to become so he wants to stop you now. Psalm 34:19 tells us that a righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord will deliver him from all of them. The trouble you are having is not because you sinned and God is angry, but because you’re righteous and blessed and Satan is threatened. A man met Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin and asked him to pray for him so that he would no longer have problems. Papa Hagin replied him that he could not pray such a prayer, that if he could, he would have prayed it for himself. Jesus said, “In the world you would have tribulations”. The only place that is conflict-free where there would be no troubles or challenges, is heaven. If you are tired of challenges, you may be sending a message that you want to be called home to heaven. However, we’re not going to cower in fear because we’re victorious already. Apostle Paul said, “Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Rom. 8:37). You are a success, going somewhere to happen. You are an arrow shot by God, nothing can stop you and you would stop at nothing until you get to your place of destiny. No champion is crowned for desiring to be a champion but for defeating an enemy. Your crowning will come after your conquest and God is using Satan without his knowing, to qualify you for the victor’s crown.
I like meditating on the ‘whens’ of the bible. “When you pass through the water and through the fire I will be with you”. “When the enemy comes in …” it is not “if” but “when”. Whenever and however it comes, always remember that you are the winner. You are born to win because God is on your side.
