I believe the Holy Spirit is moving like never before. He is in my world anyway. I see Him in EVERYTHING! I cannot understand how people can reject Jesus. It is so very evident that the devil is squirming with all the media trying to dispute Christ and Who He is and it’s not working! It never will work. Christ is God - our King. People just need to give it up and accept Him. If they could only open their heart just a little, imagine what a wonderful world it would be if everyone believed! Oh, I know we would still have our trials and burdens, but if everyone truly loved God and their neighbor as themselves….well I think it would be pretty near heaven on earth.
Today at work, the most unlikely person I ever imagined brought up the subject of Jesus. Now, mind you, I have tried to witness to this lady on numerous occasions. She not so politely told me keep it to myself several months ago…said she was NOT interested. So I graciously backed off. But I did not stop trying to be her friend. Jesus has shown me how unhappy she is and how desperately she needs Him. I have prayed for her. I have prayed for another opportunity to witness to her. I have prayed for the right words to say when He granted that opportunity. Today was the day!
The subject of The Passion of the Christ movie came up and she claimed she had not and would not ever watch it because Mel Gibson was a Nazi Jew-Hater and this movie was just another way to bash the Jews (her words, not mine). I asked how she could make that conclusion without ever having seen the movie. She didn’t answer me but said she had been in an argument with another lady because this lady told her it WAS the Jews who killed Jesus. Her reply to that lady was in effect:
“Hey, that’s just the way it was in those days. If somebody came along in this day and age claiming to be God, we would think they were crazy and put them in an insane asylum, would we not? In that day and age, they crucified them!”
That was my cue! So, I politely asked; “So do YOU think He was crazy, or was He really God? He had to be one of the two, right? ”
To which she just shrugged her shoulders.
Then I told her I KNOW He was God because He saved me from my sin. Then I explained how God always required a sacrifice for sin, way back from the garden of Eden up until the day Jesus was crucified. I told her that ultimately it was God the Father who GAVE His Son to be our sacrifice because He loved us so much - using John 3:16 as the reference. And that Jesus obediently did the Father’s will by going to the cross. That He willingly laid down His life for us and then took it up again in His resurrection. I showed her in Acts where Peter on the day of Pentecost explained all this to the Jews and they repented.
I showed her where the scriptures say “He came unto His own and His own received Him not” I told her how the Psalms and Isaiah all held prophecies of the coming Messiah and His crucifixion hundreds of years before it happened.
I told her how He can change us if we only believe in Him and repent of our sins, that He truly was God in the flesh come down to save the world from sin. I testified of my former life and of all the changes God has made in me after receiving Jesus as my Savior.
I could feel the Holy Spirit moving in her heart. She was being convicted. Then she shook it off and said “I wasn’t trying to have a Sunday School lesson here, for goodness sake!” To which, I just grinned from ear to ear! Because I knew; God was!
Alas, she didn’t accept Jesus as her Savior today, but His seeds were firmly planted in her heart. God’s Word never returns void. I rejoice that He used me to do His work today. It is a wonderful feeling to be used of the Most High God. We are all called to do His work. No, as Christians, we are more than called! We are commanded to testify of the gospel. Look for any and every opportunity to witness of His power and love to people in your everyday life. He will bless you for it.
