Bluebonnets color Texas’ roadsides
in purple perfection.
Just one more crumb
of evidence
that Your beauty is unsurpassed.
I wonder if all those people
taking pictures amid the blankets
are aware

that those wildflowers
raise their leaves in praise
to a God they don't know.
Oh, but I do know ...

and yet, I get too caught up
in a world of busy-ness
so often
that bluebonnets praise You
better than I do.

And the rocks cry out.

My feeble attempt to lift my arms
and the worship that oftentimes gets choked
somewhere between my willing spirit
and fleshly lips --

are they enough for You?
No. And never will they be.
But I will honor You still,
to the best of my ability,
and pray that I've somehow, some way,
pleased You,
that somehow,

I've touched Your heart.

Lord, I plead with You
from the depths of my heart --
If all the praise You fill me with
comes out as nothing more than a whisper,
let that whisper
shout louder than those rocks.

Build me up, I pray,
to join the bluebonnets,
but for much more than just
a season of praise.

Wonderful article (as usual) my dear sister. I thank God for you. You bless me with your friendship and your works. This has a wonderful, if not, painful message. Too bad we cannot truly give God the honor and glory that He deserves. Sometimes (most times) the flowers and rocks cry out louder instead of us. But if we faithfully praise Him then He accepts it without distaste or judgement. His mercy endures forever. God bless. In Christ, Christian

This blessed me greatly as I read it, and I, like you, want my praises to God to be louder than that of the rocks and flowers. The Holy Spirit was in your writing surely.

This is truly a beautiful poem that describes just how I've felt many times. We constantly have to keep on the alert or the evil one will pull us into his realm. I love the voice in this piece, it has a sincerity in each line and the voice portrays it so good. Thanks for sharing Joyce...your poems are heartfelt.

Eternal Spring, what a beautiful name and what a beautiful person. You are like a house that has dug deep and built your house on a firm foundation. For you are being built up a spiritual house, a holy nation, His own special people, who once were not a people but are now the people of God. I love you, Sharon
