Devotionals
So many people want to leave their mark on this world. When they’re gone, they want to be remembered! Some want to be remembered for the good things they have done or said – others, sadly, will be remembered for the horrible things they have done and said – but we all have a longing to be remembered after we die.
One night, many years ago, eleven men sat huddled together full of regret and sadness. Their teacher – their friend – had been taken away from them, and none of them had done anything about it. Oh, yes, Peter had struck a servant with his sword – but Jesus quickly put him in his place, and let the guards take Him away – to die!
After being rebuked, Peter and the others had all but forsaken their Master – and now, He was dead! He was buried in a borrowed tomb – and His "former" disciples were alone, afraid, and filled with grief!
What did they remember about Jesus? Why did they not see the plain truth that Jesus had been teaching them for three years now – in both word and deed? The Lord had told them all about these terrible few days in detail, but right now, His words were far from them. His light had been snuffed out! Darkness was all these men could see right now – swallowing them whole – enveloping them – gripping at their minds, their hearts, their spirits...
What will people remember about you, once you cross over the chilly Jordan? In my mind, I hope they don’t remember me – I hope that they remember what Jesus did in and through me! When I’m gone, it won’t matter what the world thinks about me – but, if they see Jesus in me, they just might realize their need for Him! They just might be there when I’m in my new body! They just might join us eternally in Jesus’ presence!
Forget them remembering me, Lord! Let You’re Son shine through this body! May all I say, and all I do, be a living testimony to The Christ – Yashus The Messiah – and Your words will live on eternally, and my voice will echo them throughout time, and forever!
