Wandering far from home
Once slaves, these travelers roamed.
In a desert, barren and dry
relying on God, day and night.
For forty years they would be
escaping Egypt, after they were freed
for soon, they would be
in the Promised Land, their destiny.
Many tears were shed along the way
To God in Heaven, they would pray
and to Moses, they would say
"Couldn't we just have remained slaves?"
But Moses knew that God had
far greater, and bigger plans.
Because these were His chosen ones
not slaves, but daughters and sons!
He reminded them of the day
when the Lord got His ways
and salt water freed the slaves
but Pharoah and his army wained.
Through your tears and wandering
Remember our God and His peace
He will guide you with His light
a burning fire in the night,
and when the heats too much to bear
a gentle cloud shall appear.
He is a sovereign God who loves the ones
he has chosen as daughters and sons!
