started biting my nails, again."

"I see."

"I just don't fit in with Christians,
very well. They talk about stuff that's,
like, really over my head."

"I know, child."

"Why didn't You just
leave it with the Ten Commandments?"

"Leave what, child?"

"Leave it where it was; I had trouble
enough keeping up with TEN things, Lord.
Now, I've got triple parts of You, and
Judgment Days, and....."

"DAY. Judgment DAY, child."

"Whatever."

[SMILE.]

"I still don't understand...."

"The Holy Spirit?"

"Oh, THAT. Forget about it!"

"Not easily, precious."

"Well, I'm still struggling to
understand Jesus, and all these
other people are talking about
living outside the box, and stuff."

"What box, My beloved?"

"Beats me, Lord. I know about when my
kitties pee outside of THEIR box.
Do You think that's it?"

[SMILE.]

"Anyhow, I don't know.
I just don't know, Lord.
This Christianity is getting
too complicated for me.
Maybe, I should just go back to
being plain Jewish, You know, kind of
like the plain bagel."

[CHUCKLE.]

[Silence. Sleepiness.]

"Rest, child."

"Yeah. (Yawn.) I guess I don't
have to figure out everything tonight, huh?"

[SMILE.]
"No, child."

"Okay. Night' Lord."

[SILENCE.]

[Silence.]

"Lord, why did I eat baked beans at
10 o'clock at night?"

"You are a mystery, too, My precious."
