The days had sung of words so true,
And the song still sings to me,
Gracious refrain: “How I love you”,
It sings and sings to my heart’s glee;

I am amazed, as I should be
This lovely God should serenade;
This song’s object: The one is me,
This grim creature He had made;

Chorus:
I’m just one of the aim of Your heart,
And as such, I feel so humble;
If Your love You’d fully impart,
I’m afraid that I would crumble;

However humble, I’m also glad,
With wonder that You would visit;
It’s by Your love I’m made Your lad,
It’s for Your love that I commit;

I would be so proud to reject
The umbrella of grace You’ve given this one,
For in this love You will perfect
The one You love like Your own Son;

The day will come to take in full
The one great truth I know in part;
To realize how I’m Your jewel,
For I will see Your glorious heart;
