The roof leaks,
The floor creaks.
No one goes there anymore.

The paint is peeling,
Cobwebs hang from the ceiling.
No one goes there anymore.

The yard needs mowing,
The rafters are bowing.
No one goes there anymore.

The windows are broken,
God’s message is no longer spoken.
No one goes there anymore.

No cars in the parking lot,
Bible stories are no longer taught.
No one goes there anymore.

The choir no longer sings,
The bell no longer rings.
No one goes there anymore.

The altar is dusty,
The hinges are rusty.
No one goes there anymore.

Families no longer occupy the pews,
To listen to the Good News.
No one goes there anymore.

The church has closed its door,
for
No one goes there anymore.
