I’m standing here, with naked heart;
You empty me, that You’d impart
Promise to share in Your nature;
Made like the Son o’ my Maker;

You give me things of Your making;
Divine love, by Spirit’s quaking;
My heart so swells to see Your face;
Started once I began this race;

You are the One who gives me rest;
Content in You, not failing flesh;
Please give me, Lord, this one passion:
To be remade in Your fashion;

For my own nature leaves me raw,
And scalds my heart to lose the Awe;
Grant mercy, please, for I am broke;
An object of the dark one’s joke;

Conform me, Lord, by Your great love,
Poured in my heart when borne above;
Transform my mind by Your word true,
So purified, that I’d see You.
