HIS WITNESS
As we are so shall we be known.
When the spirit life in us has flown.
When He who calls us as His own,
Gathers us about His throne.

He will wipe all tears away;
Chase the pain of past and say,
"You were chosen just to pray,
And intercede for those astray."

Will I then,O Lord dismay
For those whom I met everyday?
And did not seek to show Your way
Who might be standing here today.

Lord, I will do what I can do
With all you've put in me
To live a life reflecting You
So other souls may see.

I asked my brother for his input and this is a minimally paraphrased commentary:

"We see a witness to God’s omnipotence at the outset followed by choosing to witness for Him so that others may see Him through our witness and, then, the possessive aspect of being “HIS” witness. Now, this “witness” theme is based on two Scriptures.

Is 43:10---“You are my witnesses,” says the Lord, “and my servant that I have
That you may know and believe in me and understand that I am He…
Acts 1:8---“But you shall receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses
in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”


"As we know, our lives are but “flashes” in the pan of time. Our lives have a predetermined plan contingent upon our realizing and accepting our God-given talents. Our mere existence is witness to God’s omnipotence and, yet, it is up to each of us to accept the challenge to spread His witness by allowing ourselves to be “chosen.” Being “chosen” is set forth for in His grand scheme and only requires our willingness to be HIS witness---a simple desire to share His witness with others.
It is through our choosing that we can alter our perspective on life’s pains and sorrows, as well as, joys. Being His witness is the remedy in dealing with the trials of our humanity and mortality. It is our choice to accept the responsibility of His witness, even though we know that our inherent frailties and self-absorption will periodically sabotage our efforts.. We are a force for “GOOD” in bad times. So, we must go forth and do all we can to share our witness OF Him and be a witness FOR Him."
