A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord. (Proverbs 19:2)

How often it has happen to all of us that we are nearing to achieve some important milestone in our lives and we miss it by an inch. With some people it happens all the time and they are so discouraged that they give up and some results into suicide, some of them in mental trauma, some keep on complaining and when no reasoning power works out many of us keep on cursing and raging against God, the most easy target to reach out with all fury and failures of ours. It is tendency of we the humans to search for every answers and reason for everything with us and around us and its easy to blame others for every failures that come across our lives but we forget that problem is not with others but it’s our own faults, short-comings and our own folly that ruins ones life.

Bible clearly states in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made all things beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of the men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Here are some of the examples from the Bible that reveals unto us that how a man’s own folly ruins his life….

1) In Genesis we read that how Lord God Almighty created all things and how He created man in His image and likeness and gave them the authority over all the things, but It was the disobedience of Eve and Adam who fell into temptation and sinned against Lord, this resulted into fall of entire human race and brought forth judgement and punishment of the Lord God Almighty. Lord blessed man-kind but has also given us free-will; to choose between good and evil, to choose between blessings and curses and Eve and Adam chose the post one and lost the personal walk and blessings of the Lord God Almighty. In simple words it was the folly of Eve and Adam that brought forth not only their ruin but for the entire human race.

2)In Genesis chapter 11 we read about that how the humans raged against God by building themselves a city, with a tower that would reach the heavens, so that they can make names for themselves and does not get scattered over the face of the earth. This whole episode was about men’s pride and boastfulness and their ultimate goal to become like God and when God looked upon it, He decided to come down and confused the language so that they may not understand each other and this is how the entire human race who once had one common language and a common speech, now has dispersed and different sorts of languages. It was the folly of humans that lead to disperse of entire human race.

3)It was the folly of Abram and sarai, who unbelieved in the revealed word of God and His promise to bless them with Promised Child “Isaac” and so Ishmael was born and because of unbelief and impatience which resulted into their folly bringing Ishmael in this world, who is still a cause of major problems around the world.

4)It was the folly of Esau who for his single meal sold out his birthright to Jacob, resulting into loosing his blessings and inheritance.

5)It was the folly of entire Israel that made them to wander in the desert and wilderness for forty years, for they grumbled, complained, slandered, provoked God by breaking His Laws and Commandments.

6)It was the folly of people of Israel that they put God to test and rebelled against Most High; they did not keep his statues and angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols, which resulted into loosing the promised land that Lord the Most High God promised them as an inheritance to them and their generations.

7)It was the folly of the Israelites that they asked Samuel for a King who would lead them and Lord said that It was not Samuel that people of God was rejecting but it was the Lord whom they were rejecting and Lord told Samuel to warn the elders that a King would oppress his own citizen. Samuel warned of the military draft, of high taxation, of the King’s power to make people in slaves. Elders of Israel wanted a King because they wanted to become as all other nations and God did not want them to be like all other nations.

8)It was the folly which resulted into fear, rash and jealous that led the downfall of King Saul and rather then accepting and honouring the will of God, Saul choose to rage against God by disobeying the commandments of God and losing the Kingship and establishment of his kingdom over Israel for all time.

9)It was the folly of King David that lead him into sin like adultery and murder and resulting into a spiritual turmoil in his personal life and in his kingdom.

10)King Solomon is known as the wisest man, yet his wisdom did not teach him self-control. He taught well but he failed to practise what he preached. As he increased in wealth and honour his love of display grew upon him, and he maintained a most luxurious and extravagant establishment beyond what the resources of his people would warrant, 1 King 10:14-29. This led up to social discontent and prepared the way later on for the disruption of the Kingdom. 1 King 12:4-19.

11)It was the folly of three friends of Job that raged the anger of the God against them, for they did not spoke what was right about God as Job the servant of God spoke concerning the righteousness, love, faith, grace, compassion and mercy of the Most High God.

12)Christ Jesus through the parable of Lost Son reveals His love and conquest that how we as humans over look the plans of the Lord and rather then accepting will of God, we try and choose our own paths which in turn results in turmoil of our social, economical, mental, physical and above all spiritual life.

13)It is through the parable of Ten virgins Lord teaches us the folly of those five virgins representing us those who are not ready for meeting Christ Jesus, we who are more consumed in the matter of this world and day to-day problems that we are least bothered for meeting our Saviour and Lord Christ Jesus.

14)It was the folly of Annaias and Sapphira that they kept back a part of the money for themselves, and lied to the Holy Spirit, which resulted to their abrupt end.

15)It was the folly of Simon the Sorcerer who tried and buy the gift of God from the apostles with money, which resulted him from knowing the true and only saving grace of the Lord God Almighty.

Beloved one’s, the list may go on and it will be certainly our folly if we disregard the love of our Father in the heaven, which He has revealed unto us by sending and sacrificing His one and only Son Christ Jesus, as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Friends in order to enjoy life in abundance we have to humble ourselves under the mighty hands of Lord God Almighty, we have to make decision that shall lead us into victorious and ever-lasting life which is found in and only through Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of our Faith and Soul.

Friend’s it’s a takes a small hole to breach the dam but a stitch in time saves nine! Today many marriages are broken apart, many families are in pain and sorrow, societies, cultures and tribes are loosing its values and norms, we see around us lives been lost and devastated yet it becomes so hard for us to reconcile with our God, we fail to accept our own grim and sorrowful behaviour and decisions that affect our lives and society as whole, yet we never try and recognize our short comings, we are never ready to accept one’s failures and the true reasons behind it for we try and dissuade true situations and our needs, we always try to rationalize our life and thoughts; for we humans always try and put blame of our lives failures on others and if doesn’t works out we try and blame God, but remember friend’s God has given us the free-will, it is we who have to decide whether to live a Christ-Centred life or a Christ less life…..the choice is your’s……..whether death or life!!!

Let us not overlook the Grace that the Lord our God has revealed for us from the Heaven through His Son Christ Jesus, otherwise what all things happened to those who raged against God in their hearts may also come upon us. So be diligent and hearken to the voice of our Lord, Repent and Confess your sin’s to the Lord and get saved before it’s too late.

Prayer of Repentance:
O Lord God of Heaven & Earth, I come to thy throne of Grace and Mercy and I cry unto thee, to forgive me all my sins, cleanse me from all my unrighteousness and deliver me from all my guilt consciousness, for I confess that I am a sinner and I repent of all my sins and I ask unto thee to wash me and make me whole in the blood of Christ Jesus, thy only begotten Son. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary for my sin’s, my transgression’s, and my infirmities, my iniquity and to deliver me from every curse. I believe that Jesus is the Lord and Saviour and He has risen from the dead and is now been seated at your right hand side in your heavenly Kingdom and He is coming back to take His Church. Oh Lord Jesus come in my heart, be my Lord and Saviour, in thy hands I commend by life & my body, soul and spirit, in Christ Jesus name-Amen.

May God bless each one of us and help us to live Christ-Centred and oriented life, so that we would not rage against God rather with reverence and awe towards God we will praise and worship Him in Spirit and truth.
