Sometimes it hurts to be not yet finished,
To be under construction, in a transient state.
Sometimes it seems such a long time to completion
That impatience sets in and we chafe as we wait.

Sometimes, it's hard to trust the One who is working;
The Planner, the Timer, the One who's in charge;
Though, in completing a task He never has faltered,
And has given a contract, His Word that is fast.

Most days, they slip by, the work goes unnoticed,
Quietly and steadily the changing's being done;
Then there are times we grow restless when viewing
the "should be"
And in dejection we ask, "What's taking so long?"

A delicate working of our will and His "will be"
Will aid in the building, for the foundation is laid;
A sure foundation, secure for the building,
When all is in motion and nothing seems stayed.

Someday soon the tools will be silenced;
No need for the measure, the wheel or line;
No earthly need for further construction
For all will be finished according to plan.

Psalm 17:15b "I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."
