Marriage

No, it isn't me who's hearing bells, though I'm sure there are more than a few of you who wish I would find a broom to jump. However, there is a very exciting wedding in the works. It's a surprise wedding and I'm having to keep it to myself. I figure that you all aren't going to write to my family and spoil the surprise, so I'm eager to share the details with you. Joyce C., you are the only person I know of that reads my work and also has contact with my family members. I trust you to keep a secret. :::smile:::

Robert Hill and Typhanie Tijerina (my oldest daughter) are to be wed at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 16th, 2006, immediately following my family's Christmas get together. The idea was to inform all family members to dress in their finest as we are to take family pictures at the 10:30-1:00 gathering. I hope they'll all do so as the real reason for dressing up is for the wedding that is to be announced during gift exchange.

When Robert and Typhanie first started dating, I have to admit that I was very skeptical. Not only did they both have a history of horrid relationships, but there was the idea to deal with that I might someday inherit a son-in-law who is only three years my junior. However, over the last year, Robert has proven himself over and over and over to be very sincere. If I searched the world over and even were he three years my senior, I could not imagine a more suitable and acceptable husband for my daughter. Now, if I can just get passed the sound of "son" sounding so ridiculous to my ears when it rolls off my lips in his direction. Ha ha. Robert is 37. Typhanie is 23. I know. I know. I know... age is just a number.

I am also inheriting three new grandchildren, one of which is a teenager already. I look in the mirror and I see a woman barely old enough to have a teenage child, much less a teenage grandchild. But when I see Robert's girls, I feel blessed all over again. This year, though I don't put my hopes in a jolly, fat man in a red suit, I am certainly having to rely on a miracle for Christmas. My budget doesn't seem to want to cover those I already had on my list, much less four more. The closer it gets to Christmas and the more I tell myself "The season is so NOT about money," the more anxious I can't help but become. Your prayers for a financial blessing for me are SO appreciated.

Typhanie has grown so much over the last couple of years. This is not her first marriage. Her ex husband would not even allow her to have a driver license. Now, not only does she drive, but she completed nursing school in September and works for a cardiovascular specialist. One of her associates told me over the phone a few days ago, "It's a good thing she loves her job, because she's very good at it!" I know I was beaming when we hung up. I could write a book on her life up to this point. But I'll just say that you'd be amazed at how far she's come, how fast things have changed, and at how truly beautiful she is inside and out. She has a captivating beauty. And I can't think of anyone I'd rather see holding her hand than Robert Hill.

Typhanie called me a few days ago so excited she could hardly speak. "Mom, you won't believe what Robert did! He told me that we had a choice of either putting the wedding off for a while or using quarter machine rings until we can get real ones. We decided on quarter rings. But he came to the office today and took me out into the hallway. Mom! He got down on his knee! And then he gave me the ring he saw me admiring in the Kay's Jewelers magazine! Dr. Vias brought me out some tissue." I wish you could have heard the thrill in her voice when she described it all. I had to seek out tissue for myself.

If the Lord puts it on your heart Saturday at around 2:00 PM to bless Robert and Typhanie Hill in prayer, I would so appreciate your obedience. Personally, I plan to devise some form of list of blessings to speak over them before, during, or after the ceremony. I suppose it was about four or five months ago that I woke from a dream in which I was blessing Robert, his health, his finances, his faith-walk, etc. Prayerfully, the Lord will remind me of just how the dream went. I knew in that dream that God ordained those blessings for him and I walked away content in knowing that theirs is an unshakable union.

Personally, I hope I can find something very nice to wear on such short notice. The day is getting closer and the excitement is building so much! I just had to tell someone. Shhhhh... don't tell anyone about the surprise! :::smile::: God bless you my friends!
