Darkness invades my soul,
From a petty heart;
My weakness attests to Your strength,
As You let me see myself once again;

I must thank You for Your faithfulness
And unfailing ways;
You are right, as I will always be wrong;

I confess my folly,
For I can do nothing else;

Yet You will always be true to Yourself;
You will never deny Your heart;
For that, You will never need my counsel;

You need nothing,
For You are Life and Truth itself;

All this is evidence
That I’ve stood in Your presence,
For I am found wanting;

May my confession
Mark a change in me
To Your own pleasure;
May my groaning and my sorrow
Give glory to Your name;
You are the Lord,
And that will never change.
