Can we take the heat when it's on our feet
Can we walk the talk without a doubt
Though we quote the word, but do we live it
or do we go set down and pout

We're so good at judging one another
whenever, it's on them
But when it hits home watch what happens
then the little heart grows dim

We're good at telling others what to do
until it comes to you and me
Then we're ready, to throw up our hands
saying, I'm through so just let me be

It's good to be honest with ourselves
and even, more so with God
Then when it hits, it won't hurt as much
for nothing inside did you hide

If we are always pointing the finger at others
then it becomes a bit hard to bear
When the heat is being put under our feet
then we're begging to be spared

For that same wind is going to come around
and blow against our house
Now can we handle what we dished out
or, start screeching like a mouse

Leave off all your bragging
don't try to talk until you learn to walk
Stay humble as a child and be silent
even if you have to sulk

If not there, in what we're boasting in
on a mountain like being so strong
Well don't follow that trend, for it will end
and believe me it won't take long

No need to be spitting out any anger
and start throwing any stones
For soon one day it will come back to us
so it's better to leave others alone

Now if there be any victims
of these very words I say
and if you find that you are, do not fret
but go to God and pray

To ask don't let that one be me
who set in judgement each rising of the sun
But work on self, inside and out
so God can say well done

For if we do this then God can help us
whenever, we get low
For He is faithful to each and all
and only chastise us, in what we know

Now here's a good lesson I had to learn
and every bit of it is true
That is, if we don't ever show any mercy
then God won't spare me and you

So speak only in what you know
and just live what you say
Lay off others and check our own inventory
then God will help us, when we pray
