The gossip train is on it's run
tongues on, the phone track line
Now, who's name will be, rung up today
who's ringing through their mind?

Is it Sal or Sue, Bill or Tom
maybe that new kid on the block
Can't wait to find out, a bit of news about them
so at my door, let there be a knock

The days too slow, the nights too long
I have already, made out my list
Kate's goota beef against Sue, and ready to chew
that I can't afford to miss

Last weeks tale, has gone a bit stale
we need to hear something brand new
and if it takes, too long to happen
then, it's time to stir up some brew

Did you hear about, such and such a person
girl I heard she done this and that
Not sure which one, but lets take a guess
and then, lets join in, on the spat

Oh the phone is ringing, ear after ear
open and taking the gossip in
Some poor heart, is getting blown to piece's
by someone on the reciever's end

Well here is a taste of wisdom
it's not mine, I don't want it, I'm free
The devil can have it, I can live without it
for that kind of stuff, has a sting like a bee

And to add to this, hang up the phone
don't be, a trash can for others
Get off the gossip train, keep your soul clean
for true love, always covers

Leave Bill or whomever, to their own business
it's their life, so let them choose
Busy bodied people, are, most miserable
and don't care what they say or do

What's dead is dead, so just bury it
don't go and dig it up again
Forgive and forget, just let it go
and bring the gossip to an end
