THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL

“Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news that will be of great joy for all the people….”
Luke 2:10

The good news of Jesus is in my heart
Has been since long ago
I brought news to humble shepherds
So Gods miracle would be known.
Now, I look for others
Who would receive the joy
The promise, in a manger
Mary’s baby boy.
Who will receive this message?
I will wander though the streets
And share the gospel of Jesus
With everyone I meet.
I a busy shopping mall
I appeared as a single mother
Too poor to buy gifts for her children
You could really see her suffer.
Nobody stopped to help me
But I should have known
Peoples hearts were empty
Gods love was never shown.
I then went on a playground
In a public school
To see if any child
Knew the Golden Rule.
I once again dressed in rags
And acted very shy
But no one would talk to me
There was criticism in their eyes.
So once again the good news
Could not have been told
For disbelief and selfishness
Has reached the young and old.
I then appeared as an infant
At a woman’s door
This woman and three children
And she did not want more.
So she took my basket
Left it by her neighbors house.
She then crept away, in guilt
As quiet as a mouse.
Her neighbor was a widow
With many children of her own
But they had all moved away
And she was all alone.
When she opened the door
There was a smile on her face
“a baby boy for Christmas!”
She took me in her embrace.
I felt her love as she warmed me
Fed me, and held me tight
like her long lost baby
She cared for me that night.
In the morning, there was no baby
But an angel of the Lord
I told her bless you, mam
You have treated me good.
I have searched far and wide
For someone who would receive
The true message of Christmas
And in their hearts believe.
You seem to have so little
But between you and me
You are the first person
To see what I wanted them to see.
Because you love like Jesus
And you know His heart
Your treasure lies in Heaven
But here is a small part.
Suddenly, her telephone
Gave a rare, but welcome ring
It was her daughter that called
Boy, did her heart sing!
She invited her for Christmas dinner
And the woman rejoiced
But before I left her
I told her in a gentle voice;
Tonight you have been blessed
But woman, always know
That your greatest gift is Jesus
And he loves you, so.
