The Miracle Cure?

I have an acid reflux problem that has haunted me for the last five plus years. I was given the standard “little purple pill” and told to take one every 24 hours to keep the acid under control. For someone who had never taken more than two Tylenol’s once every so often, this didn’t sit too well. I hate taking medicines and am not well disciplined to do so faithfully. Well, after several bad cases of acid reflux that felt like a heart attack at 3:00 am, only then did I start to train myself to remember to take that little pill faithfully every day!

The little purple pill (Prilosec) went to the OTC category a couple years ago but was very expensive for a small supply. So my doctor switched me over to Nexium, which is another little purple pill. Recently I received a letter from my Insurance Company that stated since Prilosec is a drug that can be purchased over the counter, as of a certain date, they will no longer cover prescriptions for Nexium. What? Not pay for Nexium!? Oh my gosh! What will I do now? I have come to depend on this little purple pill to get me through the day! (and night). I thought I couldn’t live without it!

I talked to Jesus about my dilemma several times and asked Him to provide a way. Then I left it in His hands and forgot about for a couple weeks.

I still had a few pills left and was given the opportunity by the insurance company to fill one more prescription. Then just the other day I came across something that astounded me. While talking to my boss about all of this, she asked if I had tried apple cider vinegar for the acid reflux. She said it works, naturally. I had never heard of this before but thought: Why not? It can’t hurt to try it. Today is Monday and I haven’t had heartburn, indigestion or an acid reflux problem in three day! Not only that - my sinuses are clearing up too! I can’t remember the last time that has happened.

When I got home Friday night, I searched the internet for everything I could find on apple cider vinegar. It all sounds too good to be true and maybe it is but I really think there is something to it! The claims range from controlling blood sugar levels to lowering cholesterol and on and on and on – just look for yourself.

I started drinking two tablespoons with a 16oz glass of water three times per day and by golly, I think it works! Now, I have to admit that first glass was kind of yukky! But on the second glass, something strange happened – I think I started liking it. It’s like my body was craving this stuff! It’s loaded with vitamins and minerals and flushes your body of “free radicals” (whatever that is). All I know is if they are radical, they must not be very good for you. And if they are floating around in my body, they are certainly not free! So I am gonna free them little rads!

Apple cider vinegar has been around and used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Remember that old saying: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away?” Could it be that some of the cures for our ailments are so simple that we overlook them? Could it be that apple cider vinegar is all I needed for the past five years? Maybe so. All I know is after drinking this stuff I noticed an immediate difference. I even feel all around – just better! I seem to have more energy and wasn’t quite as stiff when waking up for the past two mornings! I told my Mom about that. She has arthritis real bad so now she started drinking it today. Is apple cider vinegar a miracle cure? Time will tell.

If it is, of course Jesus knew it all along. He’s the one who brought it to my attention after my prayerful requests to Him.

Could this be what Paul was referring to when he instructed Timothy to

“Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities in I Timothy 5:23?”

I know, I know – he said wine. I think the process of fermenting is basically the same, whether the fruit be grapes or apples, though. All I know is this; it seems to be working for what ails me. Check it out. Maybe you should try it too!

Dear Julia,
Yes! You did the right thing! Apple cider vinegar is great!
Last year my doctor gave me the "purple pill" (free from his stash) and I didn't take a one. Instead, I had heard to stop ingesting dairy products before going to bed, and esp fruited yogurt, or eating late, or spicy foods, and perhaps peanut butter.
Anyway, I stopped having the heartburn, and the jumping up with the acid suddenly coming up my throat at night! The other day my sister in law said she stops the acid with apple cider vinegar, or she may have said vinegar...just a little in water. My Mom made a hot drink with one tablespoon with water, and a pinch of honey for taste. I am so glad you are doing so well without the acid bounce back..ABB...(I just made that up, lol) You want to protect your esphogus(...sorry, I have never spelled that before in my life!) God bless you sister, and I am going now to the kitchen and make myself some ACV drink, for lowering my cholestral!
Happy Thanksgiving, and let's try not to over eat! Ha!
Love in Jesus, Jacque

I've heard of this too, Julia, but even the thought of the stuff makes me nausiated. But I guess it would be worth it if it works. I'll pass the tip on to my sister, who suffers from this problem. Thanks.
