He who hath an ear let him hear!
Where I work there are many bells and whistles and each one has a significant meaning and level of importance. For example one whistle signifies the chicken will be ‘really’ deep fried if we don’t respond. Another bell reminds us that the bread will be toast if someone doesn’t react.
Now the interesting thing is, I haven’t yet grown accustomed to reacting to these bells; I tend to tune them out! This ability to tune out the bells and whistles tends to annoy those I work with, nevertheless, I don’t react until someone says, ‘Hey Jounda can’t you hear that?’ Wherein I quickly reply, ‘Uh, matter-a-fact I didn’t.’ I simply do not hear the alarms!
Yesterday as I took my over-cooked bread from the oven, I began to contemplate the bells and whistles in our Christian walk! In Joel 2:1 we read Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand, yet, for the most part we have grown accustomed to hearing this, so much that it no longer has a deep impact, but is just an event that will happen sometime in the future!
I grew up hearing that Jesus is coming back! Not once, but every service & every sermon, my dad would remind the congregation that Jesus was returning! So much that I knew it to be true! As a child, I expected that any minute I could be gone! Yet, here I am some 30 plus years later (okay heavy emphasis on the plus) and well, I know He’s returning, but do I sense the same passion for His return that I experienced as a child?
Perhaps I have grown accustomed to the bells and whistles! Perhaps the alarm has been sounded and complacency has taken over! For me, I can honestly say, I feel His return is just around the corner! It could be today, before the sun goes down, nevertheless, what about this generation that hears mostly ego boosting sermons and the return of our Lord is seldom mentioned.
I am concerned that as Christians we tune out the bells and whistles because we have grown complacent! We live as if we have forever in this mortal body, while we should give serious thought to the words found in James: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (4:14 KJV)
He who hath an ear let him hear!
Do you hear the bells?
He who hath an ear let him hear!
These alarms have a heavier implication than something as simple as, the chicken is going to be overcooked; they speak of our future! They are letting us know that very soon Jesus is returning!
Where you will spend it?
He who hath an ear let him hear!
Lord of heaven and earth! The whole world is filled with Your glory! Everywhere we look we can see the signs of the time! We can see that Your return is at hand, yet we often fail to live as if it is true! Lord stir up a passion within us to live as if we can feel Your return deep within our bones! We want to ready!
In Jesus Name, AMEN!

You have a unique way of expressing scripture so we can remember and be on the alert! Bell's and Whistles! We all hear them from time to time! Wow! God is sure using you to spread His Word! Plus, you are so fun!
Hey, does the sound of a whistling tea kettle work? I got an old one because I wanted to hear that wheezy whistle! It reminds me of my mother's home, having tea or coffee with her. See? You are totally correct! It will be awesome when Jesus Christ returns! "I'm listening!!!"
Love you, and thank you for your obedience to use your gifts God gave you!!!!
