REAL TREASURE

The following is a list of what I feel are the true treasures of a man’s life.

Memories of:
The first time a puppy jumped in your lap and licked your face.
The first time you rode a bike and did not fall.
The first real camp out with the boys and you did a few things you shouldn’t have.
When you caught your first fish.
When you showed that fish to your mom.
The first time you hit the ball with the bat and everyone saw it.
The first time you really understood math.
The first time you built something with your own hands and your father helped you.
The many times your mother squeezed you until you couldn’t breathe.
The first time you drove anything that had a real motor in it.
When you got your drivers license.
When you made the tackle that saved the football game.
The first slow dance with her.
The first real kiss and squeeze.
Graduating from high school.
The first dollar you earned.
Your first checking account.
The time your father shook your hand like another man and not a boy.
The time your father taught you how to shoot.
The day she said yes.
The day you got married.
The first time you saw him or her after they were born.
The first and every time your child wrapped his little fingers around one of yours.
Every time you held them.
Each time your child finally believed something you tried to teach them.
Every accomplishment your child achieved.
Every hurt they shared with you.
The day you realized you needed Jesus.
The day your children did the same.
Each time you lay in your hammock and worried about nothing.
The day you stopped checking your bank accounts.
The day you threw away your beeper.
When your children graduated from 1st, 5th, 8th, 12th grades and college and graduate school.
When your daughter got married.
Each night you lay down beside that same girl and hold her tight.
The day your grandchild was born.
Every moment after that.
