He found me in my desert parched, starved and empty. Somehow, he found me in the dark seclusion and took my hand. He raised me up from the blackness where I had been lost. I looked away in shame and tried to dust of the dirty rags that covered my tattered heart. He smiled at me as he peered into my eyes and pierced through the walls straight into my soul. He didn't even flinch at what he saw, he simply smiled with tender mercy in his eyes.

He walked with me and as he spoke, his words soothed my frenzied thoughts. He lead me down a narrow rocky path to a crimson pool. There so carefully he washed away all of my filth. And with my much care he clothed me with crisp new linen, white as the wool of a lamb. I stood there amazed at his kindness and watched as he removed his robe and placed it upon me. Before I could say a word, I looked up at his graceful face and saw a single tear trickle down his cheek and yet, he still smiled.

I, now dressed in clothes that seemed too fair to suit a wretch such as I was, searched for the words to express my gratitude. But, before I could speak he reached out his open hands and from each one flowed a stream of blood like a river. I felt my stomach wrench within me and somehow I could not look away. And just briefly as I looked at him, I caught a glimpse of the pain in his eyes. I felt my heart sinking within me. Why, would such a wonderful person have to suffer so. He closed his hands and the flow ceased but the wounds were so deep they had perforated all they way through. He leaned over and kissed my brow, blessed me and he began to walk away. I wanted to grab a hold of him and mend his wounds but, my arms... they couldn't reach. I just stood there like stone my legs heavy and motionless and watched him go. I felt the anxiety well up within me as I thought, "Don't let him leave you!". Then suddenly, as if the earth had heard my thoughts, I saw a light so brilliant it was blinding. It descended slowly like a cloud almost dancing in the wind. Then, as if they were the caring arms of a mother it embraced him and carried him off into it's splendor.

A peace like none I had ever experienced before swept through the air like a mighty wind, and he was gone. I looked around and felt the freshness of a new day and found myself appreciating the sunlight. All around me the desert which had surrounded me for so long was gone. There, my sadness had been replaced with joy which filled my heart, so much so I thought I might burst. He had given me a gift, a second chance. An oppurtunity to live once again but, this time to truely appreciate every precious moment. What was I to do now? I realized it, at that very moment. Everything became so clear. The veil had been lifted from my eyes, one that had kept me in utter darkness. I had to speak of Him, share my story about the man who gave me a new life. The stranger, who thought nothing of who I had been and valued me enough to simply give me... His all.
